Mr. Wilburn "Gary" Brock passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Brock family Barn. He was born on July 25, 1947, in Dalton, GA to the late Wilburn Lee and Ava Nell Osborn Brock. Mr. Brock was proceeded in death by his grandson, Samuel Lee Brock, "baby Sam" of Dalton, his in-laws Rose and Clyde Long, both of Chatsworth and his brother-in-law, Mr. Terry D. McAfee, also of Chatsworth. Gary leaves behind a heartbroken family including his bride of more than 55 years, Clydene Brock; his two sons, Lee (Julie), Craig (Dani); his cherished grandchildren and three very special great grandchildren, Will Brock (Bailee) and their two little ones Ellie and Reed, Jack Brock (Reagan) and Cole, Rylee Brock (fiancé Thomas Petty) and Reagan Brock (the one who claims to be Poppa's favorite). He also leaves behind his sister Jana Brock Galloway (John) of Acworth, GA; his sister in-law Becky McAfee, of Chatsworth and many nieces, nephews and greats. Born and raised in Dalton, GA, Gary graduated from Dalton High School in 1965. Soon after, he attended Kennesaw Business School. Later he joined the National Guard where he served for 6 years. During that time, he married Clydene and started building a home and a family with her in Chatsworth. Gary was the son of an entrepreneur who passed that entrepreneurial spirit on to him. Throughout his lifetime, he invested in and built multiple companies including Precision Tufting Components where he served as founder, president and CEO. He was proud of his work there, but he was most proud of his two sons, Lee and Craig, who worked side by side with him building the company into what it is today for the last 20 years. He taught them leadership, accountability and how doing the right thing, is always the right thing. He would say: "Be honest, tell the truth and you'll always remember what you said and always put things back where you found them." Gary was a competitor at work and in life. He loved to play golf with his friends and sometimes his family. He was the DGCC Senior Club Champion in 2006 and the Super Senior Club Champion in 2013. He served his community in various ways including serving on the Chatsworth City Council for many years. He also served alongside his friends on the Chatsworth Waterworks commission and was the HOA president for Moravia. He was a collector of antiques and old cars, but his favorite of all time was his original 1966 Chevelle that he purchased the first time when he was just 19 years old. After he and Clydene got married, he sold the car but was able to purchase it back years later and restore it to its original condition. Gary had lots of friends from all walks of life. If you knew him from afar, you probably thought he was gruff and hard to get to know, but underneath that tough exterior was a giant heart. He was generous without fanfare-he just gave and shared all he had. He always knew what to do and took action. He just took care of things. Everything. His love was always shown through his actions. He was a fixer. a protector. a provider. our leader. If you were part of his flock, you were taken care of. In the words of one from his flock: "He didn't just live a good life-he gave a good life to others." He led by example. And we, his family, are most thankful for his courage to walk the aisle of First Baptist Church at the age of 70 as an outward expression of his faith in Jesus to be baptized. The Bible is clear that all who believe in Jesus shall not perish but have everlasting life. We know we'll see Gary again in Heaven. God said so. Until then, we'll miss him terribly. Funeral services for Gary Brock will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 1pm at first Baptist Church, Chatsworth with Revs. Mark Carr, Tommy Crider and Dr. Randy Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends at Peeples Funeral Home of Chatsworth on Friday, June 13 from 5:00pm – 9:00 pm. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Chatsworth. Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Wilburn "Gary" Brock.
