Wilfred F. Lothes, age 88 years, a resident of Ellamore, WV, peacefully passed away with family at his side under Hospice Care at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday, August 2, 2025. He was born May 30, 1937 in Elkins, where he graduated from Elkins High School with the Class of 1955. He was the eldest son of the late DeSales Lothes and Wilfred J. Lothes. He is survived by one brother, Ret. Major John E. Lothes and his wife Wilga of Elkins; three sisters, Mary Cecelia "CeCe" Cacase of Elkins, Margaret "Sunny" Austin of Elkins and Julia E. Corder and husband Bill of Junior, WV. Wilfred married Gail Swick on August 4, 1956. They had enjoyed 61 years of marriage before her passing in 2018. They were blessed with five children, the late Stephen J. Lothes, Yvonne Marson and husband Harry, Brian Lothes and wife Rita, Maria Hall and husband Ron and Minta Lothes-Kosanic and her husband, the late Bill Kosanic. They were also blessed with nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Wilfred was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Coalton, WV where he participated in many activities including the spaghetti community dinner and as a Eucharistic Minister. Throughout his life, he had been a member of the BPOE Lodge No. 1135; Knights of Columbus, United Mine Workers, Elkins Promenaders Square Dance Group and EvUnBreth Golf Club. Wilfred's request for cremation was honored. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Wilfred F. Lothes.
