Bill passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Health Center, Syracuse New York on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Bill was born on July 2, 1938, to the late Lloyd and Olive Klock Rood in Pulaski, New York.
Bill enjoyed farming and owned farms in Amboy, Williamstown and lastly Heuvelton New York. He had a love of horses and owned a Percheron team for many years. Bill enjoyed a simple life attending country fairs to watch the horse competitions, tractor pulling contests and enjoyed old-time music events with his wife Clara. Bill served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He worked for the New York State and Oswego County Highway departments for several years as well as Miller Lumber Company in Parish, New York.
Bill married Clara Belknap on August 31,1963 in Camden New York. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Richard and Alva Rood.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years the former Clara Belknap; a brother, George (Betty) Rood of Mexico New York; Children, Elaine (Karl) Guppy of West Monroe New York and Larkin (Pat) Rood of Hastings New York; Grandchildren Kyle (Olivia) Guppy of Jacksonville North Carolina, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Guppy-Minichino of Stuart, Florida; Great Grandchildren Kyle Guppy (Kyle & and Olivia), Kade Guppy (Kaitlyn and Ryan), Kwynn Minichino (Kaitlyn and Ryan) and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1t 11:30am on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Amboy Center Christian Crossroads Church, 4 State Route 183, Williamstown, New York. Cemetery services will follow and a light lunch at the church Parish House will be offered following the services.
