Willard Giffin Stoll, 92, of Clarinda, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Eilers Health Care in Clarinda.
Williard was born in Clyde, Missouri, on September 6, 1932, to Matthew and Iva B. (Giffin) Stoll. The family moved to the family farm near Elmo soon after and Willard grew up there and graduated from Elmo High School in 1950.
He proudly served his Country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in December of 1954.
Willard farmed the family farm in the Elmo area until the 1980’s, he went to work for the State of Iowa in 1977 at Clarinda. He worked at the prison there and retired in 2015.
Willard liked to visit, drink coffee and was a storyteller. He enjoyed watching army movies and shows, eating ice cream and going to garage sales.
On September 26, 1966, in Shenandoah, Iowa, Willard was united in marriage to Glenna Mae Oldham. They were married for 43 years before she passed away on September 5, 2009.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Matthew Thomas Stoll, Jr., in infancy, his in-laws, Betty and Lois Bright and Richard Bright, Robert, Richard, and Johnny Oldham, and Gary Adkins, and his grandson, Joseph Dean Thieman, in infancy.
Willard leaves behind his children, Edgar Richard Stoll, Clarinda, Tracy Sue (Terry) Hilgerson, Riverton, Iowa, Jill Ann Thieman, Braddyville, Iowa, his sister, Vida Anne Adkins, Burlington Junction, Missouri, 5 grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Szymanski, Terry Dean Hilgerson, Jr., Cheyenne Marie (Armando) Ibarra-Cepeda, Isaac Matthew Thieman, and Rebekah Ann Thieman, 5 great grandchildren, Lilly Duckett, Bristol Powell, Kendal and Paxton Szymanski, and Titus Hilgerson, in-laws, Martha and Harold Bancroft, and Jack Bright, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Bram Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the LaMar Cemetery, Elmo, Missouri.
Memorials can be made in Willard’s name to the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
