William Perry Barnes Jr. 70, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on June 29, 2025, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center due to cardiac arrest. He was known as "Willy" by his father but everyone else called him Billy.
Billy was born on December 17, 1954, in Sarasota, Florida, to William Perry Barnes Sr. and Sarah Eloise Lasher "Ellie". He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Vietnam veteran. Billy dedicated his career to his work as a skilled boilermaker and welder.
Beyond his professional life, Billy had a deep passion for riding motorcycles and was always ready for an adventure on two wheels. He also enjoyed gathering with loved ones for backyard barbecues and finding relaxation through fishing when he had the time. Known for his infectious sense of humor, Billy loved to joke around and bring laughter to those around him. He was a man with an open heart, always willing to open his door for anyone in need and generously offering help to friends and family facing hardship.
Billy is survived by his beloved children, Johnny (Jennifer) Bailey, Krista Barnes and Joshua (Amanda) Barnes. He also leaves behind a legacy of 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. His surviving siblings are Darlene Taylor, Teresa Lasher, and Rosemarie Seger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Barnes in 2006, his son Justin Barnes in 2018, his parents William Perry Barnes Sr. in 1985, Sarah Eloise Lasher "Ellie" in 2021, and his brother Bobby Perry Barnes in 2023.
Celebration of Life:
