Michael Bensinger was born on January 18, 1965, at Gordon’s Hospital in Lewisburg, Tennessee, to William Luke Bensinger, Jr. and Patricia Grace Reynolds Bensinger. He passed away on July 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He concealed his dementia diagnosis but when late symptoms emerged, his health rapidly deteriorated.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Bensinger; his brother, Patrick; his stepdaughter, Chelsie (Rhett) Butler. He is also remembered fondly by many caring brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepdaughter Brittany Wood. Michael was a proud and devoted grandfather, known affectionately as “Pawpaw,” to three granddaughters - Aspen, Ruby, and Emmy. Their laughter brought him endless happiness, and he cherished countless joyful hours with them.
Michael was a 1983 graduate of Marshall County High School. He earned his degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Business Administration, graduating in 1988. Michael was proud of his work as an industrial engineer, where he expressed his creativity and expertise in manufacturing. He was also a thoughtful and respectful supervisor to many at ICP, Nichirin and for his last employer, Dole Refrigeration. He was dedicated to work, always seeking out new challenges with determination and a great sense of humor.
Michael exuded warmth and humor in all his favorite activities. He loved to garden with Liz, cheering on UT and SEC football, or saving a penny where he could.
An amazing stepfather and loyal friend, Michael had a deep love for his family. He especially adored Liz, his wife and partner who were “two peas in a pod” in all things. His frugality was known to many, but it was only matched by the generosity of his spirit.
Michael’s legacy is one of wit, laughter, and love. His smile will be remembered, and his presence deeply missed.
Honorary Pallbearers:Kenny Lilly, Tony Cross, Britt Wiles, Michael Tipper, Richard Boyer, Rodney MacIntosh
