William "Bill" Burns, 84, of Asbury, IA died Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Asbury.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Church of the Resurrection with Father David Ambrosy as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Peosta at a later date.
Bill was born on April 13, 1940, in Dubuque, IA, the son of William Joseph and Mary Frances (McEvoy) Burns. On June 12, 1981, he married Judith Dennis in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Bill graduated from Loras Academy at later Loras College. He worked in sales for an educational technology company and later as a substitute teacher at several schools in Dubuque.
Bill was a long time, faithful member of Resurrection Catholic Church and also was a member of That Man is You. He served on the board of the Village Co-op in Asbury. Bill enjoyed golfing and was known by his friends as Eagle Eye because he could always find the golf ball. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Loras Duhawk fan. Bill enjoyed gathering weekly with his long time friends from Loras Academy. Most of all, he loved interacting with people and always had a story to share.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judith Burns of Asbury; four siblings, Juliana (Dave) Cox of Dubuque, Dennis (Patti) Burns of Casa Grande, AZ, Sheila (Larry) Jansen of Springfield, MO, and Mary Frances Row of Overland Park, KS; one sister-in-law, Christine (Jason) Echard of McGregor, IA; one cousin, Mary Kay Ruden of Dubuque; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one infant brother.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Engleman, Hawkeye Care Center, Hospice of Dubuque, and their Village Co-op family for all of the compassionate care and support given.

Bill was an incredibly kind and loving friend of my parents, Jim and Maureen McFadden. Bill and Jim were born twelve days apart, were friends through Loras, and Bill visited when each of them was struggling with their health. His visit greatly warmed my father's heart. My condolences to the family. --Robert McFadden
