William Harrell Foshee, known affectionately as Harrell by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in Brownwood, Texas. Born on October 7, 1938, in Clanton, Alabama, Harrell was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering kindness, gentle spirit, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.
Harrell grew up in the warm community of Uvalde, TX, where his journey led him to Uvalde High School, where he played football and met his wife, Janice.
Harrell's professional life was a testament to his commitment to serve others. He began his career at the City of Odessa Police Department, where he shared his knowledge and experience with aspiring law enforcement officers. Later, he transitioned to become a Vocational Industrial Teacher, a role in which he empowered numerous students with the skills and confidence to build meaningful careers.
Beyond his professional achievements, Harrell was a man whose heart belonged to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Janice Foshee of Robert Lee, his devoted son Kevin (and wife Dawna) Foshee of Odessa, TX, and his cherished daughter Jana Thurman of Brownwood, TX. Harrell's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Amanda (and husband Reed) Ellett, Luke Thurman, Kyle (and wife Jazmin) Foshee, Kaleb Foshee, as well as his great-grandchildren, Adaline, Nova, and Rhett.
Harrell's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting, activities that not only brought him peace but also provided countless cherished memories with friends and family. His workshop was a haven of creativity, a place where he could be found working on a myriad of projects, always with a readiness to lend his handy skills to anyone in need.
Those who knew Harrell will remember him as the embodiment of kindness and gentleness. He was the kind of person who enriched the lives of those around him through his actions and his warm, comforting presence. The words 'handy,' 'kind,' and 'gentle' are not merely descriptors but are the essence of a man who lived a life full of purpose and love.
As we bid farewell to Harrell, we reflect on a life well-lived, a journey marked by the love he shared and the positive impact he had on those fortunate enough to cross his path. His memory will live on, not just in the tangible results of his work, but in the intangible warmth that he left in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo, specifically Keyla, Julie, Darcy, and Amy for all of their help, compassion, and guidance during our papa's final months. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to Hospice of San Angelo. https://www.sanangelogives.org/organization/hospiceofsanangelo
