William F. Hughes, 58, a resident of School Street, passed away January 27, 2025 at his home. William was born in Bennington on October 15, 1966 the son of William V. and Betty (Sargood) Hughes. He attended Bennington schools, graduating from Mt. Anthony Union High School. William worked as a carpenter in the local area construction industry for many years. He was a member of the Catamount Bow Hunters Club and the Federated Church of East Arlington, He loved hunting, fishing and all kinds of music. He played Little League Baseball as a youth in Bennington, was a Dallas Cowboy fan and loved his 3 cats. William is survived by his children Andrew Hughes (Ashley) of Shaftsbury, Crystal Hughes of Bennington and Marshall Hughes also of Bennington, his parents William and Betty Hughes of Ruskin. Florida, his brother Brett Hughes of Arlington, VT, sisters Tammy LaFlamme (Paul) of Pownal and Rhonda Andrews and her son Bradley Hughes, grandchildren Jackson Whalen, Jadyn Owen and Kamdyn and great nephew and niece Grayson and Audrey Hughes. At the request of the family there are no formal funeral services. If friends desire, memorial gifts in William's memory may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 957 Bennington, VT 05201.
