William "Bill" Lee Maroney, a dedicated family man and longtime resident of Neosho, Missouri, passed away on July 6, 2025, at the age of 66.
Bill was born on January 14, 1959, in Joplin, Missouri, to Billy Lee and Nancy Ruth (Ackerson) Maroney. He graduated from Monett High School and Monett Vocational School in 1977 as a Machinist Apprentice.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army with the 8th Ordnance Company at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, from 1977 to 1980. He continued his service with the Missouri National Guard from 1987 to 1995, serving in Company A, 203rd Engineer Battalion (Combat Heavy) as part of the Maintenance Platoon. He spent many dedicated weekends at the Fort Crowder motor pool.
Bill worked at La-Z-Boy Midwest for over 34 years, beginning as an upholsterer and retiring as Quality Manager in 2021. He was respected for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to quality in all he did.
On December 9, 2006, Bill married Teresa Kohler in a heartfelt ceremony at Big Spring Park in Neosho. A man of faith, Bill was a Christian and lived his life with integrity, humility, and a servant's heart.
He enjoyed the outdoors-especially hunting and fishing-and had a lifelong interest in model railroading. He also dedicated many hours to researching and preserving his family's genealogy.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; his children: Dana (Michael) Lambert of Cleveland, OH; Douglas (Erika) Maroney of Kansas City, MO; Nevaeh Maroney of Neosho, MO; Samantha (Aarin) Starchman of Joplin, MO; and James (Lauren) Gum of Pineville, MO, his eleven grandchildren, and his sister, Linda (George) Sooter of Monett, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Lee and Nancy Ruth Maroney.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, MO. Friends and family are encouraged to wear Kansas City Chiefs attire in honor of Bill's lifelong love for his team.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bill, to help his family with medical expenses, may be sent to Clark Funeral Home PO Box 66 Neosho, Missouri 64850.
Bill will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady faith, and the deep love he had for his family and his country.
