Graveside services for William "Billy" Perkins, 83, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Homer Cemetery in Lufkin with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating.

Mr. Perkins was born on December 9, 1941, in Norfolk, Virgina, to the late William Rudolph Perkins, Sr. and Hazel Catherine (West) Perkins , and died Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Lufkin.

He proudly served his country in the US Marines. He had a love for dancing, cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers, and spending time at the beach. He was a hardworking man and took great pride in his very large vegetable garden. For ten years, he owned and operated a successful wholesale food business called Seabreeze Foods. Above all, he was a devoted husband who dearly loved his wife and cherished every moment they spent together.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen Perkins of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Sherry and Stede Granger of Flowery Branch, GA; daughter, Teresa Canino of Lufkin; son and wife, William Darin and Bertha Perkins of Lufkin; son, Michael Messinger of Portland, OR; son and girlfriend, Richard Gray and Allie Dehart of Beaumont, TX; son and wife, Todd and Cyndi Gray of Hot Springs Village, AR; grandchildren, Dane Perkins, Joshua Gray, Morgan Messinger, Leila Windham, Lydia Gray, Stede II Granger, and Leah Granger; great-grandson, Dawson Gray; sisters, Jeannette Lister and Linda Stanley; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Michael Canino.

Special memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home.
