William Thomas "Bill" Putthoff, 97 of Effingham, KS died Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Medicalodge of Atchison. Mass of Christan Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Effingham KS with Fr. Roopesh Govindu as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, at St. Ann's with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Ann's Altar Society or to the Town & Country Senior Center, Effingham, KS and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com. Bill was born on Feb. 29th, 1928, in Winchester, KS the son of Herman J. and Rose P. (Corpstein) Putthoff. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from May of 1954 to May of 1956. Bill was a farmer for most of his life. He was a member of the St. Ann's Church, served on the Atchison County CO-OP, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Effingham Lions Club, served on the Atchison County Fair Board, and was a Atchison County Commissioner for 16 years. He enjoyed old tractors, going to the casino, and going on Big Jim's Tours and traveling. Survivors include a sister Kathryn Parker, Salina, KS, nieces Pat Miller, and Linda Stack, of Salina, KS, Paula Lane, Clay Center, KS, Karen King, Sioux City, IA, a nephew Michael Parker, Salina, KS and caregivers and special friends Dennis and Brenda Wenzl, Effingham, KS. His parents preceded him in death.
