William Rock Obituary

William Edward Rock, 90, of Farmington, passed away at 3:30 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Farmington Village Nursing Home in Farmington, IL. He was born on September 7, 1934 in rural Maquon, IL, to Herbert Leslie and Mable Vera (Hatch) Rock. He married Donna Yvonne English on July 1, 1956 at a church in Checkrow, IL. She preceded him in death in 2010.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Rock; and two half-sisters, Janice Hancock and Alberta White.
He is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Yvonne Rock of Farmington, IL; two brothers, Herbert Marnell (the late Audrey) Rock of Rapatee, IL; Harold DuWayne (Joanne) Rock of East Peoria, IL; three sisters, Dorothy Ann (the late Ben) Stehl of Bushnell, IL, Lois Marie (the late Glen) Stegall of Creve Coeur, IL, Virginia Irene (the late Gaylord) Ackerson of Avon, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
William worked and retired as a welder from Caterpillar after 40 years. He was also a substitute school bus driver for Elmwood and Spoon River Valley. He enjoyed sports, traveling, taking kids to ball games, and going to the Bradley Brave games. He was also a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church in Farmington, IL.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Service will be held at 11:00 AM the same day at the funeral home. Minister Erik Slingerland will officiate. Burial will follow service at Marietta Cemetery in Marietta, IL. Memorials may be made to the Farmington Rescue Squad 1100.
