William K. "Kenny" Shaw, Sr., age 80, of Clayton, DE, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
Born in Salem, NJ on April 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Winfield K. Shaw and Marion (Hitzelberger) Wilhelm. Kenny grew up in New Castle where he got his love for football, hunting, fishing, Tweety Bird as a nickname, and getting into trouble with his friends. Kenny proudly served in the United States Army as well as the Reserves. He then worked as a drywall finisher out of IUPAT Local Union 100. A trade taught to him by his father-in-law, the late Albert Moore of Delaware City.
Kenny was largely self-taught in almost all aspects of construction remodeling and selling numerous homes to improve his family's life. He was a "flipper" before TV shows about it became popular. Together with his family, he built the house he lived in and even within the last year completed an in-law suite for himself. Kenny had a passion for horses and dogs, especially his beloved Mini-Dachshund, Lady Bug. He was a character, loudest person in the room, and you always knew what he was thinking. Much of his life was inspired by the western movies he loved and football. Most of all, he cherished his family and friends and the memories he made with them.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Faye (Moore) Shaw. Faye gave him stability for the first time in his life and as far as he was concerned, they were celebrating their 59 wedding anniversary this month. He is survived by his son, William "Bill" Shaw, Jr., PhD of Rehoboth Beach; and sister, Elaine Alvini of New Castle. Recently, Kenny was glad to have our cousin Heather Benson and her family living with him.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will follow in New St. Paul's Cemetery, Cox Neck Road, Delaware City, DE.

To Bill "aka" Billy as your mother and father would always call you. Rich and I (Laura) are so very sorry for your loss. We were lucky to have both Kenny and Faye as our neighbors for many years. They both adored their Billy and were so very proud of you.
In 1995-96, my 1st husband Joe started the foundation for our home. There was a "No Chickenhouse" sign someone put on our property when we arrived that we knew nothing about. Kenny came over and introduced himself and admitted it was his sign. He and Joe talked construction. He and I talked horses. He told us about local speed traps and his favorite places.
Kenny was a tough old cowboy. At least that is what he wanted people to think. He loved going to the Cowtown Rodeo every Saturday night of the season. It was nice having our love for horses in common. He had his own tough love way of doing things. But on the inside he had a big heart. When I was recently divorced from Joe, Kenny called to check on me after snow storms, power outages and even after an earth quake. He cared and I truly appreciated him checking in. It was nice to know they were both there if I needed anything.
When Rich and Kenny met they quickly had a unique bond. Rich was not phased by Kennys tough outer shell and would would poke fun and made him laugh. He kept Kenny laughing , sometimes it was even at himself. Rich liked helping him out whenever he could. They talked about everything over the years and learned a lot about and from one another.

I just wanted to share with you a little bit from our side of the fence.
We know he has had so many health battles over the years. We will miss him but we are glad he is no longer in any pain. Your mom has been waiting for him to come join her and they are together again. I bet he is riding in that big rodeo in the sky.
Please let is know if you need anything or including help with the horses.
Sincerely, Your neighbors Laura Lesky ( aka Blevins ) Guelette, Wyatt Blevins and Rich Guelette
