William "Bill" Eugene Weist, 90 of Cloverdale, Indiana, peacefully went to be with
his Heavenly Father on Friday, 6/13/2025 surrounded by his loving family.
He always loved singing God's praises and he had a tremendous voice. His favorite hymns were "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace" and "I'll Fly Away".
William was a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ.
William battled with dementia in last few months of his life. The disease hit him hard and fast after the flu and pneumonia. Many thanks to Mill Pond Campus, Legacy Lane Section for all their love and care to William and the family.
His parents were Leo F. Weist and Louise Caroline (Fernkas) Weist.
On January 21, 1955 William married the love of his life, Jane Annis Houston Weist, she preceded him in death on January 25, 2012. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Joseph, a daughter Fonda Jane and a great grandson, Jacob.
William worked many jobs as a teenager and one was at Old National Trial with his mother and brother, Joe. His senior year in high school he started working for Cundiff Electric. He became a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 481 and worked for several different companies until his retirement in 2000. In 2023 he received his 70th year award from IBEW. He was very proud of this accomplishment.
William also farmed raising cattle, hogs and crops.
William graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1953 and he was his class
Vice President and Prom King in 1953.
William's family will miss his quick willingness to help with any family project, never-ending work ethic, constant encouragement and his love for Christ and singing the Lord's hymns. Even when his health failed him and he was not able to attend church services he still listened to hymns at home and sung along just as he did when he actually in church. While at Mill Pond Campus in his last days he was singing until just about one week prior to his passing.
William is survived by his daughters, Pam (Don) Richards, Donna (Larry) Fidler and Amanda (Greg) Huber. 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren with more on the way. Along with a very good friend Diann McCallie.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 with services at 1 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service.
Internation will be Cloverdale Cemetery.
IN lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the Mill Pond Campus, Legacy Lane Section. Again, the family would like to thank them for all their love and support during William's short stay with them.
