Wilma Lavon Bengtson, age 89, of Hills, died Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Mary Jane Brown Home, in Luverne. She was born April 29, 1936, the second daughter of William and Shirley (Johnson) Van Loon. Wilma graduated from Osceola, Iowa High School and attended business school in Des Moines.

Wilma married Wendell Bengtson on August 3, 1957, in Osceola, Iowa. Wilma was a homemaker and worked for the Hills-Beaver Creek school district, until her retirement in 2012.

Wilma acknowledged her faith in God at a young age, and she remained faithful to the Lord all her life.

Wilma is survived by her: daughter, Noreen (Dan) Zarmbinski, Hills; son, Brian (Becky) Bengtson, Springfield, MO; four grandchildren, Jesse and Lane Zarmbinski; and Bethany (Marty) Faber and Bradley (Kalee) Bengtson; five great-grandchildren; brother Gaylen Van Loon, Pipestone, MN; brother-in-law, Larry Faber, Poulsbo, WA; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Van Loon, Ankeny, IA and Mary Bengtson, Rayville, MO; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell; sisters, Ione Lee, Wanda Faber, and Karen Van Loon; and brother, Ivan Van Loon.

Wilma's family would like to express our sincere appreciation for your many comforting thoughts and prayers. Each of you hold a special place in our heart.

Graveside service will be 2 pm Friday, July 18 at the Trinity Cemetery near Steen.
