It is with deep sadness to inform friends and family of the passing of Wilma Jean Schuyler (nee Case). She has entered eternal heaven to be with friends and family on Friday, July 11, 2025. She and Jim were holding hands as she took final leave to be free of pain and worry.
Wilma was born on March 7, 1935 in Norfolk, Nebraska, the second child of 7, to Wilbur and Mabel Case (nee Lorenz). She grew up in South Dakota. She was a dad’s girl and her nickname was Billie. She spent a lot of time with her father as he trucked cattle and grain. He made sure she wore bib coveralls on her trips to the cattle stock yards. On July 2, 1953, she married Hugh Snell in Norris, SD and bore four children: Kenneth D., Larry G., Myrna J., and Norman R. Her family made their way to Wisconsin by way of Colorado, they then later divorced.
Wilma and Jim married on June 23, 1973 and she became the mother to his two daughters, Cheryl and Sue. They spent their life living in the Oconomowoc/Summit area. She was always a hard worker and worked various jobs. For many years, Wilma worked a second job at Chuck’s Supper Club holding positions like hostess, waitress and head waitress. They just reached their 52nd wedding anniversary. After Jim’s retirement, they spent time in Michigan, Colorado and Wyoming and then back to Wisconsin. In 2007, they moved to Three Pillars Retirement in Dousman, having just started their 18th year.
Wilma has been a breast cancer survivor since 2001. She said “like mother, like daughter” and regretted one thing she wished they didn’t share: they were both diagnosed with breast cancer within 1 ½ months of each other.
Wilma is survived by her husband Jim; children Larry (Gayle) Snell of Ohio, Myrna (Warren) Tieberg of Wyoming, Norman Snell of Colorado, Sue (Glenn) Henricks of Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister Marva (Ron) Letellier of South Dakota; daughter-in-law Marianne Snell of Michigan; along with numerous cousins and other friends and family.
Wilma is preceded in death by her son Kenneth Snell and daughter Cheryl Schuyler; her parents; 5 siblings; and ex-husband Hugh Snell.
We want to thank the staff and residents of Three Pillars for their great care and compassion and thoughtful support Wilma received to make her life comfortable.
Services are planned at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) for Saturday, July 19, 2025 with a visitation from 9:00am-12:00pm, service to follow with Pastor Wes Werner presiding. Following interment at Summit Cemetery, there will be a gathering back at Pagenkopf Funeral Home for light lunch and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Three Pillars and Susan G. Komen in Wilma’s name are appreciated.
