Winnie graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1956 and went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Vincent DePaul School of Nursing in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1959. She dedicated 20 years of her career to Medco Center and later retired from Evansville State Hospital in 2004. A devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, Winnie deeply loved her family and cherished being actively involved in their lives. She also enjoyed baking, gardening and bird watching.
She is survived by her son, Charles Christopher Pace (Beth); daughters, Catherine Barnes (Danny) and Elizabeth Pace (Jeanie Collins); grandchildren, Geoffrey Barnes (Jamie), Logan Pace (Stephanie Robles), Katelyn Pace (Michael Bradford) and Cortland Pace; great-grandson, Rogan Barnes; nephew, Wayne Gross (Sammie); niece, Melissa Knight (Greg); and brother-in-law, David Pace (Mary).
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Beth Pace officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NEWLIFE Rescue and Adoption, 6500 Leonard Rd. N., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620.

What a wonderful lady she was!! I worked with Winnie at Medco Nursing Home, and she was one of the best, she will be missed!!
