Yuki (Yamada) Cote
September 20, 1947 – July 3, 2025
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Yuki Cote, who left us on July 3, 2025.
A true angel on earth, Yuki was a cherished wife, devoted mother, and adoring grandmother whose life was a picture of love and kindness. She found immense joy in her close friendships, the art of Japanese cooking, exploring new places through travel, and nurturing her garden. Above all, her greatest pride and deepest love were always reserved for her family.
Born in the small village of Yomitan, Okinawa, on September 20, 1947, Yuki spent her early years immersed in the culture of her island home. In December 1970, she courageously journeyed to the United States to be with her beloved, Marine Corporal Roland J. Cote. They were united in marriage on January 23, 1971, in Taunton, Massachusetts, beginning a remarkable partnership that would span over 54 years.
In May 1977, Yuki and Roland settled in Leesville, Louisiana, where they raised their two sons, Michael and David. Their home was a foundation of hard work, wrapped in unwavering love, respect, warmth, and kindness-values Yuki instilled in her sons and later, in her grandchildren whom she absolutely adored.
While Okinawa forever held a special place in her heart, Yuki embraced Vernon Parish as her home for nearly five decades, a community she truly cherished. She treasured her friendships deeply, always ready to lend a hand, share a comforting meal, offer a thoughtful gift, or simply reaching out with a kind phone call to check on a friend.
Yuki's heart and soul were faithfully devoted to her husband Roland, her best friend and the love of her life. Their journey together was a beautiful testament to enduring to love and commitment, and we find comfort in the belief that they will someday reunite in the presence of our Lord, their love continuing for eternity.
Yuki is survived by her husband, Roland J. Cote; her sons, Michael P. Cote and David R. Cote, and their wives, Julie Cote and Paula Cote. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Madison Cote, Luke Cote (and his wife, Destiny), Peyton Cote, Caroline Sellers (and her husband, Kaj), Jack Cote, and Jackson Cote. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Annette Cote; brothers-in-law Robert Cote, John (Jack) Cote, and Peter Cote; sisters-in-law Marie Cote and Norma Cote; two brothers Yoshimitsu and Osao, both residing in Okinawa; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A celebration of Mrs. Yuki Cote's life will be held on Friday, July 18th. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM and services will begin at 11:00 AM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home. 601 S. 4th St., Leesville, LA 71446.
