Yvonne Walton Obituary

Yvonne Nita Walton, a cherished member of the Jacksonville community, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on August 16, 1954, in Onslow County, she was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend.
Yvonne dedicated many years of her life to her role as a Secretary for the state agricultural department. Her commitment to her work reflected her diligent and caring nature.
At the heart of Yvonne's life was her love for creating an inviting and cozy home. She found great joy in cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, where her warmth and kindness could be felt by all who gathered around her table. Yvonne's faith was a guiding force in her life, and she took great pleasure in attending church and helping others in her community.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory; her beloved husband, Russell Walton of the home; her son, Joshua "Josh" Walton, of Jacksonville, her dog BoBo; her father, Edward Turnage, and mother, Maureen Shepard Turnage, both of Jacksonville, NC; her sisters, Francia "Fran" Antinori and husband David of Sneads Ferry, NC; Theresa "Tessi" Hollis and her husband Al of Columbia, NC. She is also survived by Russell's brothers, Lewis Walton and his wife Vickie, and Harold Walton and his wife Peggy, all of Jacksonville, NC; her cousin, Phyllis "Lil Sis" Bryan of Jacksonville, NC; along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Yvonne's memory be made to either Lighthouse Baptist Church of Jacksonville or Southeastern Oncology Medical Center (SOMC) of Jacksonville.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 19, 2025 at Lighthouse Baptist Church on 2531 Burgaw Highway Jacksonville, NC starting at 11:00am with a meal following. Yvonne will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her loving spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
