Benjamin Garrett Obituary

Benjamin Gimbert Garrett, Jr. 89 passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025. Ben was born on September 7, 1936 in his grandmother's home in what was then Oceana, Virginia to Benjamin G. Garrett, Sr. and Mildred Patricia Garrett. He graduated high school from the Pingry School in New Jersey. He attended his beloved UVA and graduated with a BS degree in engineering and a Master's degree in business.
Ben worked as a key account executive with several advertising companies in New York City. While living in New York City, Ben met Margie Garcia who was the love of his life. They married and eventually retired to Virginia Beach where Margie continued her work as a Nurse Practitioner.
Ben is survived by his loving wife Margie, his sister Pamela Holzer (James), his three children from his first marriage, grandchildren, a nephew, two great nephews and a great niece. The family thanks Ben and Margie's very special friend, Player Butler, for her tireless attention to their needs during his last months. She is loved.
Ben's ashes will be interred at Trinity Episcopal Church, Portsmouth. A remembrance service will be held at a later date. Farewell to a proud Son of Virginia!
