Zoeylln Claussen Obituary

Zoe Claussen was born on August 11, 1935, in Amelia, Nebraska to Levi and June Gilman. She entered into eternal peace on March 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and a dear friend.
Zoe was a resilient and independent woman whose life was filled with challenges that she met with grace and strength. She raised her five children in Atkinson, instilling in them the same determination and love that defined her life.
In November 1954, Zoe married Harold Gene Claussen, and together they welcomed five children: Deborah Briggs, Linda Ries, Harold Claussen, Lisa Zoe Smith, and Regina Yunek.
Throughout her life, Zoe worked as a teacher, an x-ray technician, and spent many years caring for others at the Atkinson Good Samaritan Center. Her most notable and rewarding career was leading the student lunch program at West Holt Public Schools, where she nourished not only the bodies but also the hearts of countless students. During these years, she formed lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply.
Zoe was a devoted and faithful member of the Atkinson Presbyterian Church, where she had the honor of serving as an elder. Her life was enriched by her love for her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the simple joys of tending to her beautiful flower garden. She delighted in watching the birds and squirrels in her yard, playing cards with friends, painting, sewing, crafting and traveling, especially to Texas.
Above all, Zoe was steadfast in her faith, fiercely loved her family and lived a full and beautiful life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and June Gilman; her brother, Jack Gilman; her son-in-law, Larry Ries; and her niece, Samantha Everett. Zoellyn Claussen is survived by her sister, Connie (Charles) Everett of Atkinson, her children; Deborah (Dale) Briggs of Norfolk, Linda Ries of Atkinson, Harold (Wendy) Claussen of Atkinson, Lisa Zoe (Mac) Smith of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Regina (Darin) Yunek of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and many loving friends.
Zoe's warmth, strength and unwavering faith will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
