COVINGTON, Ind. - Christine Ann Holmes (Young), 73, passed away in Covington, Ind., on Friday (July 18, 2025) after a hard-fought battle with cancer beginning in 2017.
Born on Aug. 12, 1951, in Indianapolis, Christine lived a life filled with connection, joy and dedication to those around her.
She grew up in Indiana and attended Covington Community High School. Christine went on to build a meaningful career at Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation) in Champaign, where she served as a supervisor. She took pride in mentoring others and was deeply valued by her colleagues for her ability to connect and lead with care.
Christine is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Crystal Sue Mitchell (Mark Peek) and Jill Kay (Kevin) Abernathy; sons, Roger (Tina) Holmes and Michael (Dawn) Holmes; grandchildren, Rhett, Tristen, Ryder, Ali and Eli Holmes; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Grace, Bentley, Ellie, Cecilia and Levi Holmes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Elmo and Mary Kathryn Young.
Christine embraced life with a fun-loving spirit and lived by the motto: "It doesn't cost anything to be nice." She enjoyed traveling, golfing and taking drives in her Jeep on sunny days. Her zest for life was evident in every adventure she pursued and every moment shared with family and friends.
Her faith was a guiding presence throughout her life. Christine attended Covington United Methodist Church in Covington, where she found both spiritual fulfillment and community.
A viewing will be on July 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. EST at Sunset Funeral Home, 420 Third St., Covington. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. that evening at the funeral home. Per Christine's wishes, she will be cremated and placed to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington, following a private graveside service for her immediate family.
Donations in Christine's name may be made to the Covington Boys' Youth Baseball League, P.O. Box 142, Covington, IN 47932. Christine's memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her legacy bring comfort and peace to those she touched.

Christine was my lead when I started at Rockwell. What is said about her on her memorial is right. She was a very caring person who liked to liven up people. I will miss her.
