FARMER CITY - Linda Lou (Gibbs) Ashworth, 85, of Farmer City passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Thursday (May 30, 2024) at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care.
Linda was born Dec. 28, 1938, in Farmer City, the daughter of Okie and Bertha Belle (Gibson) Gibbs, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Moore High School in Farmer City in 1956 and attended Illinois State University in Normal. She married Robert Archie Ashworth on Sept. 6, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Farmer City.
Survivors include her children, Sabrina L. (Tim) Walsh of Farmer City and Vincent T. Ashworth of Arlington Heights; grandchildren, Adam J. (Andrea) Weedman of Farmer City, Dustin H. (Torrie) Weedman of Spring Hill, Tenn., Mallory L. Weedman of Farmer City, Alexander F. Ashworth of Conyers, Ga., Mickael F. Ashworth of Dyer, Ind., and Logan Wesley Ashworth of Le Roy; and great-grandchildren, Clara Weedman, Corinne Weedman, Brynley Weedman, Everley Weedman, Kale Weedman, Cade Weedman, Archer Weedman and Willow Weedman.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, John Wesley Ashworth; grandson, Wesley R. Weedman; sister, Doris Thomas; and brother-in-law, Millard Thomas.
Linda valued family, hard work and loyalty. She loved hosting Sunday dinners for the family, being in the middle of helping fix anything broken, snowmobiling, boating, waterskiing (while pregnant with Vince), playing tennis, playing bridge and, most of all, playing pranks on her friends.
As a member of the Arabian Horse Association, ARAB Inc. Region 11, Linda lived out her love for horses. Her stallion, O-Bak, won Illinois Grand Champion Halter and went on to compete on the national stage at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. She was also a member of the Tri-County Trail Twisters Snowmobile Club and the United Methodist Church.
A special thank you to the staff at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care and Carle Hospice of Bloomington for their loving care and support for Linda.

I loved Linda, even when she forgot and called me Judy. She was a good person.
