MAHOMET - Marilyn June Mohr, 93, of Mahomet passed away at 8:30 p.m. Thursday (June 12, 2025) at Bridle Brook, Mahomet.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, June 18, at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar St., Mahomet. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in Riverside Cemetery, Mahomet.
Marilyn was born on June 19, 1931, in Mahomet, to Hubert "Nick" and Lela (Lindsey) Ponder. Marilyn attended and graduated from Mahomet schools, where she met her husband, John Mohr, also of Mahomet. They were married on June 9, 1951, in Mahomet, where they built a beautiful life and family together.
Marilyn worked alongside John farming, and beyond that, she served on the board at the University of Illinois Extension Office, was a board member and volunteer at Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana, and was also a board member with the United Methodist Women Organization and was a member of the Mahomet United Methodist Church. Marilyn was a talented seamstress and crocheter and shared these gifts with countless community members and youth who sought to learn the art.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John D. Mohr; four siblings, John (Freda) Ponder, Louise (Ed) Bice, Wanda Elliott and Harold Ponder; her nephew Reid (Linda) Ponder; and great-granddaughter Hannah Roberts.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Dawn) Mohr of Mahomet; daughter, Anne Marie Mohr of Mahomet; three grandchildren, Caitlin and Lindsay Domboski of Mahomet and Jordan (Adrienne) Roberts of Ste. Marie; four great-grandchildren, Elanor, Maximus, Samuel and Finley Roberts of Ste. Marie; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana. Condolences may be offered at owensfuneralhomes.com.
