Died: July 30, 2025 in Spring Valley, IL
Charles E. Swanson, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025 after an extended illness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness, humor, and gentle spirit touched everyone he met.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Holy Family Church in Oglesby with Rev. Paul Carlson, pastor officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 11:00 am at th church, one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery, LaSalle with full military honors conducted by the LaSalle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. Arrangements are entrusted to Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby.
He was the beloved husband of Carol (Kodrich), They were married on June, 6, 1964 in Peru, they shared 61 years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. He is survived by his wife Carol Swanson of Oglesby, daughters Kristie (Kent) Hahn of Frankfort, IL, and Kimberly (John) Huff of Elk Run Heights, IA. He was a proud grandfather to JP Huff, Adrianna (Stone) Allen, Nicholas Hahn, and Jake Hahn, and a joyful great-grandfather to Millie and Steele Allen.
A graduate of St. Bede Academy, Class of 1958, Charles went on to serve honorably in the National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves. He dedicated 40 years of service to Maze Nails as Production Manager, where he was known for his integrity, dedication, and leadership. Beyond his career, he gave generously of his time as a volunteer in the community, always ready to lend a hand or offer support wherever it was needed. He was a member of Holy Family Church, the Oglesby Planning Commission and Design Review Board, and the Elks Club.
He will be remembered most for his warm heart, his easy going personality, and his quick wit. He loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends, and he brought laughter and light to every gathering. His legacy of love and kindness will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation in his honor to St Bede Academy.

CHARLIE AND I WERE BEST BUDDIES IN THE 60S. CHARLIE AND CAROL STOOD UP FOR MY WIFE LINDA AND I WHEN WE MARRIED, JUNE 5,1965.. WE STAYED IN TOUCH OVER THE YEARS. CHARLIE WAS THE MOST PERFECT MAN I EVER KNEW. RIP BIG GUY! JIM(SAM) FEURER.
