Patricia Butler Obituary

Patricia L. Butler
Patricia L. Butler, 90, of North Haven, passed away peacefully at Chatham Place on Saturday, July 19, 2025. She was the devoted wife of the late William "Bill" F. Butler with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in New Haven on July 3, 1935 to the late Evelyn (Lucier) Hesse and John Hesse Sr., Patricia was the oldest of 4 children. Predeceased by Barbara (Robert) Jones, Mary Lou Rand, and John Hesse Jr. They spent summers together at Indian Cove in Guilford where she developed her love for the ocean. She graduated from Hamden High School in 1953. She married Bill in 1960 and they raised their children in Hamden. Later in life, Patricia and Bill enjoyed winters in Marco Island, FL, and exploring the country together. She loved to escape New England winters for warmer weather.
She found the most joy in family. A proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and wisdom will live on through the generations she so deeply loved.
Mother of daughter, Nancy (Jim) MacGregor, son William (Stephanie) Butler Jr.
Grandmother of Brittany (Alex) Kaiser, Patrick (Renee) and Justin (Stephanie) MacGregor, Alec, Mary Elizabeth and Blake Butler. Great-grandmother of James and Charlotte MacGregor, Vivienne MacGregor, and Cameron Kaiser. Survived by sister-in-law, Cheryl Hesse and brother-in-law Joseph Rand as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thank you to the nurses, techs, hair stylist, coordinators and neighbors at Chatham Place as well as the YNHH Hospice Team for their kindness, unwavering support and compassionate care over the past several years.
The visiting hours will be Friday, July 25th from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home 36 Washington Avenue. Pat and I became close friends when we were next door condo neighbors. We shared many fun times and laughs together. Pat was so nurturing with my grandkids, as well as college students who lived with me. Everyone loved her.
She was simply a wonderful woman- empathetic, loving, witty and down to earth. Not a day went by that she didn't express her gratitude for having such a beautiful, loving family and took such pride in everyone's accomplishments.
It was a joy to know your mom and grandma. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Nancy and Bill and the rest of your family.
