Mercedes Blanche- Heyse Noriega

Mercedes Blanche Heyse, lovingly known as Mercy and affectionately called Muscle Mike in her youth, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering strength, compassion, and devotion.
She was born on October 24, 1929, in Milwaukee, WI, to Paul Heyse and Catherine Neelesen Heyse. the age of two, Mercedes and her four sisters were raised in an orphanage in Milwaukee, where she remained until she graduated from Mesmer High School. Her resilience and determination led her to pursue a career in nursing, and she earned her nursing diploma in Jackson, MS.
It was in Jackson where she met the love of her life, Rudy Noriega, who was serving in the U.S. Army. They married on August 21, 1954, and began their life together in Arizona. Mercedes worked at St. Mary's Hospital and was the heart of their growing family.
Mercedes and Rudy were blessed with seven children, Martin Paul Noriega (Nancy), Emily Ann Noriega Neumann, Catherine Irene Rodriguez (Andy), David Joseph Noriega (Linda), Rudy Edward Noriega (Kimberly), Ralph William Noriega (Jackie), and Phillip Anthony Noriega(Liza). Her legacy continues through 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Mercedes was a dedicated nurse who served her community in Nogales, AZ, for over 40 years as part of the Carondelet Healthcare System (St. Joseph's and Holy Cross). Even after retirement, she remained active in her beloved Catholic Church and continued to give back in service and love.
She was a pillar of strength and kindness always there when needed, fiercely loving, endlessly giving. She enjoyed lunches with her fellow nurses, playing piano, Bingo and Yahtzee with Family and friends, and lived a life full of joy, faith, and connection. She loved the Lord with all her heart and carried His love into every aspect of her life. Mercedes was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and nurse. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
