Steven Brokman Obituary

Steven Michael Brokman

June 29, 1953 - January 11, 2025

Steven Michael Brokman, 71, of McClelland, IA, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at Amelia Nursing Home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 29, 1953, in Council Bluffs, IA, Steven's life was defined by his unique personality, entrepreneurial spirit, and the many paths he pursued along the way.

Steven worked for the railroad for many years, a job that presented its share of challenges, but it was his retirement that allowed him to fully explore his passions. He was a gardener with a love for cultivating plants, a curious traveler who especially cherished trips to China, and a talented cook who found joy in creating unique dishes.

Steven was known for his unconventional pursuits and his independent spirit, which left an impression on those who knew him. He spent much of his time in McClelland, enjoying the local community in his own way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Christopher Brokman and Marlene Patricia Brokman, and his brother, William Brokman Jr.

He is survived by his children: Christopher Brokman (Lori), Stephanie Cavanaugh (Scott), Steven Brokman Jr. (Anne), and James Brokman (Holly); and his grandchildren: Rayn Petersen, Sidney Brokman, Allison Brokman, Lanie Petersen, Sydney Brokman, Silas Brokman, and Adalyn Brokman.

Steven's life was a testament to individuality and resilience, and his memory will remain with those who shared in his journey.

I got to know Steve for a few months at Amelia Place assisted living center. He was a good guy and enjoyed talking about his travels to China and the food from his garden.
