March 29, 1951 - July 12, 2025
Arthur Ruben Knodel, Jr., 74, passed away in Rapid City, SD peacefully on 7/12/25. Art was born on 3/29/51, in St. Francis, KS and was the eldest son of the late Martha Maria (Lippert) and Arthur Ruben Knodel Sr.
Art graduated from St. Francis High School in 1969 and went on to continue his education at Denver Auto Institute and later Western Bible College and enjoyed singing within the church. Art retired from his successful career at Union Pacific Railroad as a diesel mechanic. He was known for his unwavering dedication to working long hours and coming home to complete various additional projects that he was always proud to share with his sons.
Beyond his professional life, Art was a man of many passions. He found immense joy in joking with anyone around him, taking on additional work or home projects, and traveling to a good buffet.
He is survived by his children: Rachael Hemp (Jason) of Des Moines, IA; Alyssa Watts (Alex) of Omaha, NE; Adam Knodel (Alyssa) of Yacolt, WA; Aaron Knodel (Crashell) of North Platte, NE; Bryson Wiser of Omaha, NE, and Brandon Payton of Lincoln, NE. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Marc and Cia Hemp, Hayden and Caysen Knodel. He is also survived by his siblings, nieces, cousins and friends.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Allen and Edward, and his wife Connie.
Art's sense of humor, his passion for trains and tractors and the love he shared for his family will be deeply missed.
