Myron Mayberger Obituary

Myron C. Mayberger

May 25, 1933 - October 20, 2025

Myron passed away peacefully in Omaha on October 20, 2025, after a brief illness.

He and his identical twin brother, Marvin, were born in Bellwood, Neb., to Joseph and Lillian Mayberger on May 25, 1933. He graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1951. After graduation, he served in the Navy on the aircraft carrier Ticonderoga. He met the love of his life, Arlene Voboril, and they were married in 1957. They moved to Omaha, where Myron worked in heating and air conditioning, eventually retiring at age 80 from Metropolitan Community College. Myron was a man that greatly valued family, faith, friends and fun.

Myron is prceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lillian Mayberger; sister, Colleen Ebner; and brothers, Marvin and Dennis Mayberger.

Myron and Arlene have six children, Susan (John Thomas), Mary (Mike Ambrose), John (Diane), Joseph (Deborah), Jane (Ed Dineen) and James (Kristine). Myron was a great family man who welcomed each in-law with open arms and each of his 21 grandchildren with joy:

Evelyn Mayberger (Max Brodsky), Ben Thomas (Linda Li), and Isaac Thomas (Laiseng Saechao); Amelia Ambrose (Tony Leber), Ava Ambrose Tyson (Nick), and John Ambrose (Kristen); Sam Mayberger (Julie), Paul Mayberger (Allison), Rachel Mayberger, Josh Mayberger (Rachel), and Joel Mayberger; Michael Mayberger (Kimberly), Jeff Mayberger (Hannah), and Jenn Scanlon (Tyler); Maddie Dineen (Chloe Harper), Miranda Dineen, Susie Meredith (Kordaryus), and Sophie Dineen; Emily, Joey and Mary Mayberger. He was blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and three more on the way, and was close to his nephews, nieces and cousins.

Myron exemplified his faith through his active involvement in St. Leo's Church, the Knights of Columbus, Serra Club, That Man is You, Mount Michael Association, and St. Vincent de Paul. He prayed the rosary daily.

Everyone who met Myron quickly became his friend. He had friends through work, church, his children, grandchildren and his many wonderful neighbors. Myron had a great sense of fun; he loved to share a beer, tell a story, watch a ball game, and cheer on his grandkids. He was quick with a smile and often became the life of the party. He woke up whistling, ready for a new day, and to be with people. He enjoyed fishing, dancing and traveling with Arlene, friends and family. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation Friday, Oct. 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Leo's Church.

Funeral Mass Saturday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Church, 1920 N. 102nd St., Omaha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Leo Catholic Church, Mount Michael Abbey, or Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Mr. Mayberger was my first intramural basketball coach at St. Pius. I still remember his fun loving, yet assertive approach to the game. He made it fun and deeply cared for everyone on the team.
Myron and Arlene were always great ambassadors of the St. Pius/St. Leo community, always giving back! While my parents have passed, they were very fond and appreciative of the their many contributions.
Condolences to the family, he will be missed!
