Darwin Kewitsch Obituary

Darwin Herman Kewitsch, 77 of Bemidji, MN passed away Thurs. May 1, 2025 at his home. He was born February 25, 1948 in Mora, MN to Charlie and Millie (Larson) Kewitsch. He grew up in Mora, Cambridge & Glen. He graduated from Aitkin High School in 1966. Darwin proudly served his country in the United States Army for 1 1/2 years and completed his tour in Vietnam.

Following his military service he returned home & worked for McGregor Rice Plant, L.S.S. in Bemidji for 17 years. He was a foster parent for 11 years to our boys who he loved very much.

He married the love of his life, Bonnie Blegen on Oct. 17, 1987 in Aitkin. Darwin loved to travel to South Dakota with Bonnie and Danny to see several sites.

Darwin and Bonnie enjoyed Sunday afternoons watching NASCAR and the Minnesota Vikings.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bonnie of Bemidji; Children Danny (BobbieJo) Kewitsch, Blackduck; Tracy Moose, Aitkin; Jenny Buchholz, Brainerd; Grandchildren Sebastian, Anna, Ezra, Cruz, Everlee, Sierra, Kayla, Aaron, Megan and Great grandchildren. Sister-in-laws Shirley Kewitsch, Brainerd; Judy Kewitsch, Pam Price, Bunny Dotzler & Darla Blegen all of Aitkin; Nieces and nephews, family, friends and special cat "Blizzard".

Preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Morris and Allen Kewitsch, Son Kevin Moose and nephew David.

Arrangements were with Olson-Schwirtz Funeral Home and Cremation, Bemidji, MN.

Family, friends and others whose lives Darwin touched are invited to a Celebration of his life, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Aitkin American Legion from 12-3 pm.
