Marion Spiniolas Obituary

Marion Spiniolas
Born: February 7, 1930
Died: February 19, 2025
Marion Spiniolas, 94, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025 in Harvard, IL.
She was born on May 7, 1930, the daughter of Christ and Victoria (Grys Paspaleon) John.
On April 9, 1953, in Chicago she married her sweetheart Andrew Spiniolas. Mary and Andy farmed for many years and instilled that passion into their family. One thing Mary was not afraid of was work.
Marion was a farmer at heart, she often talked about the truck farm days and never lost her green thumb. She loved gardening, especially flowers, red geraniums were her favorite.
She was a devoted McHenry County Farm Bureau member. Marion served as the Women's Committee Chair for 13 years and was even on the board of directors. She regularly told of how getting involved helped her meet so many wonderful people, which then turned into life long friends. She was very passionate about helping those in need(food pantry, homeless veterans, scholarship programs, and blood drives).
Marion loved sharing agricultural stories to the youth. When teaching Ag in the Classroom, she'd often say "That stuff (food) doesn't grow on shelves!"
Not only was she a pillar to her community but she was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and tremendous great grandmother! Her family was her life and her friends didn't nickname her "Proud Mary" for nothing! She will be deeply missed.
Especially for her tenacity to throw the best picnics or pool parties around. And no matter what time it was Marion's kitchen was always open, particularly for her renowned crepes!! Marion was a blessing to so many.
She is survived by her two sons, James (Robin) Spiniolas and Christ (Kay) Spiniolas; ten grandchildren, Bradley (Jenna), Aaron (Natalie), Tonya (Brian), Craig (Bria), Victoria (Kurt), Candace, Justin (Nikki), Jamie, Andrew (Amanda), and Ryan; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew; son, John; her grandson, Kenneth; her parents and two siblings.
Private graveside service on Friday, February 28th in Huntley Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held in early summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marion's name may be directed to the McHenry County Farm Bureau.
