Ming-Neng Yeh Obituary

YEH--Dr. Ming-Neng. Dr. Ming-Neng Yeh. A devoted father, grandfather, and esteemed physician, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025. He was 86 years old. Dr. Yeh was the beloved father of four daughters: Angela, Rubina, Noreen, and Janet. He was also the cherished A-Gong (grandfather) to five wonderful grandchildren, Michelle, Elsa, Nico, Jackson and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Lieyu Yeh, who passed away on November 8, 2016. Together, they built a strong, close, and loving family. Dr. Yeh was born in Tainan, Taiwan in 1938. He graduated with a medical degree from National Taiwan University in 1964. Shortly thereafter, he and Lisa married and moved to the United States where, after a few years, they settled and raised their young family in Bergen County, New Jersey. In his medical career, Dr. Yeh specialized in the field of high-risk obstetrics and gynecology. He was a pioneer in the use of ultrasound in obstetrics and in developing new techniques in prenatal care which have led to improved outcomes for mothers and babies worldwide. He delivered over 3,000 babies, and left a profound impact on countless couples, many of whom had previously been told that they would be unable to have children. Several of Dr. Yeh's patients have remained friends with him over the decades since he delivered their precious babies, even after those babies had grown to adulthood themselves. In addition to being a practicing physician, Dr. Yeh was also a medical educator and taught in his field at Columbia-Presbyterian for decades. He achieved the honor of being made a professor emeritus toward the latter part of his career. Outside of his professional achievements, Dr. Yeh was a committed family man and loved nothing more than to host summer barbecues and holiday gatherings for his daughters and their families. His grilled chicken was legendary. He found joy in classical music, literature, art and travel, and his good humor and kindness were appreciated and loved by all who knew him. Dr. Yeh lived for the last few years at the Bristal retirement community where he was very popular and much appreciated for his positive and friendly outlook. When asked for his advice in a newsletter interview, he said "Enjoy life and do the best with what you are given. You truly never know how precious it is." Dr. Yeh lived his entire life by this motto. His family takes comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved Lisa and will be watching over them with the same love and guidance he offered throughout his life. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Dr. Yeh's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 2-4pm at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 W. 76th St., New York, NY 10023. He enabled us to have two precious children and I referred a number of my friends to him that he also helped. A very special man indeed. We were truly blessed by his care for me.

He had a certain `something´. The same `something´, but different, than a media/sports or political star. A `something´ of great skill with humility. A `something´ of respect for a problem, while he tames it. A `something´ created between him and a stranger in trouble. They would soon realize, they were truly being taken care of. A `something´ of thanking him profusely and he responds only, `That´s what I´m here for´. He was `something´; he had that `something´, Everyone knew it. I bet he still has it when we see him again! God bless you Dr Yeh. Rest in peace.
