Ralph R Jones Jr. died April 2, 2025 at Blountstown Health and Rehabilitation Center in Blountstown, FL.

He was born December 11, 1938 in Chatom, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph R. and Sarah Jones and his wife, Diana Jones. Ralph graduated from Auburn High School in the class of 1957. Following high school Ralph attended Auburn University and received a B. S. degree in Zoology in 1962. He married Diana Dilworth Jones on June 3, 1961. He got his M. S. in Zoology (Fisheries Management) at Auburn University in 1964. He got his Ph, D, in Zoology at Louisiana State University in 1973. In 1964, he moved to Lewes, Delaware and was a Resident Biologist with the University of Delaware. In 1967 he moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was a Biologist for the Louisiana Wild Life and Fisheries Department. In 1974 he moved to Bay Minette, Al and taught Biology at Faulker University. In 1975 he moved to Roanoke, Al and taught Biology at Southern Union State Jr. College until his retirement. Ralph was very active in the community, attending church at First United Methodist Church of Roanoke. He was active in the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and Boy Scouts of America. He also had a passion for archeology and was a participant in Archaeological Research with the University of Alabama Museums.

Ralph is survived by his son, Michael Jones and wife, Sherry. Ralph is also survived by his daughter, Beverly Jones Mitchell and husband, Bo. Grandchildren include Will Frazier, Kathryn Frazier, Ellis Frazier and Conner Jones. Graveside services were held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home in Montgomery, ALon Wednesday April 9, at 2:00 p.m.
