Hazel Ward Obituary

Hazel Bertha Ward, 92, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 6, 2024, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center Canonsburg. She was born February 14, 1932, in Monongahela, daughter of the late George David and Hazel Olive Chadwick Maze. Mrs. Ward lived for many years in Washington where she was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild. After retiring from healthcare as a Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide, Mrs. Ward was caretaker for her mother, grandmother, her husband and son. In their youth, she was a leader in the Boy scouts of America for her sons' troop and loved camping. Hazel also enjoyed going to the casino and scratch off tickets. On June 31, 1951, she married John P. Ward who passed away on November 7, 1999. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Brenda W. Snyder (Larry Strawn) of Canonsburg and Patricia A. (Kevin) Lowther of Washington; and her son, William P. (Tina) Ward of Allentown; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Hazel was the last of her immediate family. Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are her son, David F. Ward, who passed away Friday, December 25, 2015; and her brothers, Everett Chadwick, William, George and John Maze. Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday April 10, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P.
