Michael "Mike" Marutz, 71, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, February 9, 2025. Mike was born on July 28, 1953, in Great Falls, Montana, a son of the late Patricia and David Marutz. Mike's legacy is one of love, family, and friendship. He was the devoted husband of Lisa Marutz for 48 beautiful years. Their love story began during a chance meeting on her campus visit to Cal Poly, where Mike was pursuing a degree in Business. That encounter blossomed into a lifelong partnership and beautiful family that Mike cherished deeply. Mike was a proud and loving father to Nathaniel (April) Marutz, Deanna (Joseph) Winans, and Nicole (Steve) Bieranowski. He was also a cherished Pop Pop to his grandchildren, Charlotte Winans, Norah Winans, Sophia Bieranowski, Benny Winans, and Easton Bieranowski. He took immense joy in watching his children grow and thrive and considered being a grandfather one of his greatest roles in life. Born in Montana, Mike eventually moved to Los Angeles, where he earned his BS in Business from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Though he spent much of his professional life as a Sales Manager at UARCO, where he recruited and mentored future leaders, his family always came first. Mike's pride in his children was unwavering, and he cherished the memories of coaching Little League, soccer, sharing his love of classic rock music, and watching his kids grow into exceptional adults. Mike's world was his family; nothing meant more to him than spending time with them. He was also a sports fan, with a particular love for the LA Dodgers. Over the years, though, Mike became a proud "transplant Yinzer," embracing the charm of Pittsburgh while holding a special place in his heart for his Southern California roots. Mike was a man of integrity, humor, and kindness. Everywhere he went, he formed deep, lasting friendships. His warmth and wisdom made him a beloved figure in every community he touched. Above all, he was known for always knowing the right thing to do-his love and care for those around him evident in every action. Mike will be deeply missed but forever loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday February 12, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road,
McMurray, PA 15317. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Brother's Brother Foundation, 1200 Galveston Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233
