Stephen Ford Obituary

Stephen Lloyd Ford, 82, of Daisytown, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in the beautiful farm home that he had personally restored. Lloyd was born July 14, 1942, in Fishpot Hollow, Fredericktown, a son of the late William Thome and Grace Lash Ford. Mr. Ford was a 1960 graduate of Beth Center High School, where he acquired the nickname "Pappy" and was a standout athlete in football, wrestling and track. After earning an Associate's degree in Accounting at Penn Commercial, Lloyd worked at Jones and Laughlin Steel Southside Works and Vesta #5 mine for 20 years. He then founded Ford Home Improvement in Richeyville, a family business that he managed for 40 years that continues as Mark Ford Home Improvement. He regularly attended Garwood Baptist Church. Mr. Ford was a 33rd degree Mason and member of the Sunset Masonic Lodge #237, where he also served as Past Master. Lloyd was a hardworking man who enjoyed various hobbies and interests including carpentry, hunting, horses, woodworking, travelling with his family, '50s music from his youth, and his camp at Confluence. He passed on his work ethic, straightforward approach to life, and love for his hobbies and interests to his children and grandchildren, all of whom he considered his greatest gifts in life and all of whom loved him dearly. On August 27, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Ellen Jenkins Ford, who survives. They were looking forward to their 65th anniversary this August and the arrival of their sixth great-grandchild, Baby Ford, this October. Also surviving are two sons, Mark S. Ford (Brenda), and Scott Henry Ford (Kathe), both of Richeyville; five grandchildren, Mark S. Ford II; (BobbieJo), Alyssa Ford, Jacob Henry Ford (Sydney), Hannah Maxwell (Michiah), and Abigail Baker (Cale); along with five great- grandchildren, Ben Perkins, Braylee Lancaster, Aliana Lancaster, Halle Maxwell, and Liesel Maxwell; a brother, William Ford (Nancy) of Twinsburg, Ohio; and over 20 nieces and nephews to whom he was beloved "Uncle Lloyd". Deceased are six sisters, Agnes Troyan, Grace McWilliams, Virginia Fowkes, Mabel Yanosky, Violet "Dolly" Myers, and Anne DeLeonardo. The family would like to thank Washington Hospital, Redstone Dialysis, and Wonsettler Physical Therapy for helping Mr. Ford remain in his home for the final two years of his time with them. Friends will be received from 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 8, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where visitation continues Monday, June 9, from 10 until 11 a.m., the time of service. Pastor Kevin Carpenter will officiate. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Garwood Baptist Church, 637 Scenic Drive, Daisytown, PA 15427. Lloyd it was an honor to have our paths cross in this life and I always enjoyed our conversations. You and Ellen have become like family to me and it breaks my heart knowing we won't have any more conversations but with the last few we did have I know you were ready for Heaven so, that brings my heart peace. My family and I send our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to your family. A great big hug to Ellen!
