Theodore Slater Obituary

Theodore G. "Ted" Slater Jr. passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was born August 26, 1938, in Pittsburgh, a son of Theodore G. Slater Sr. and Mary Ellen Kern. Following graduation from Robert Morris business school, he worked for many years in the family business in the Bethel Park area. He remained in the Peters Township area until 2018, when he relocated permanently to North Texas. In his early years, Ted enjoyed salmon and fly fishing and multiple types of hunting to include bird and big game animals. He and a group of close friends/family greatly enjoyed taking annual hunting trips across the U.S. and Canada. For a period of years, he was an avid snow skier who enjoyed both local ski areas and taking trips out west with friends and family. Ted was also a passionate calf roper and enjoyed traveling across the country with his family to rodeos, calf ropings and barrel races. Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and his spouse, Rita C. Slater. He is survived by his only daughter, Kristine Slater of Valley View, Texas; and many old friends, who will miss his daily presence. His final resting place will be in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, next to his spouse of 59 years. An informal graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 27. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to a local charity of one's choice.
