Steven Wrightson Obituary

Steven Tylor Wrightson, 78, of Easton, MD, passed away at his home on September 28, 2025.

A lifelong Eastern Shoreman, Steve was born on May 17, 1947, in Easton, MD. He was the son of Geraldine Davis and Tylor Wrightson. Steve attended The Country School for his early education, followed by George School, where he had many fond memories. He went on to earn both a bachelor's and a master's degree in Psychology from Washington College.

Steve devoted his career to Talbot County Public Schools, serving as a school psychologist for 43 years. He loved working with children and families, finding joy in supporting them through challenges. The only part of the job he disliked was the summer necktie, which he turned into a running joke by wearing it around his head.

At Washington College, Steve met the love of his life, Melinda (Bergner) Wrightson, and together they built a life full of adventure, laughter, and love over 55 years of marriage. They raised four daughters - Kathryn (Chris) Abbott, Caroline, Diane, and Emily Wrightson. Steve was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing time with his grandchildren Natalie and Laurel Abbott and Remington Wrightson.

Steve was athletic, excelling in both baseball and soccer in his youth and playing through college - even traveling abroad to compete. He also loved the outdoors and everything that came with it: time on the water, hunting, fishing, shooting, golf, gardening, and life on the farm. He enjoyed cooking elaborate meals, listening to music, setting off fireworks, and gathering with friends. A gifted storyteller and constant jokester, he had a way of making those around him smile, even in the most difficult moments.

In the last two decades of his life, Steve faced significant health challenges with remarkable strength and resilience. His humor, kindness, and love for his family never wavered.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda; their daughters and grandchildren; his sister, Elaine (Lainie) Wrightson; nephews Chris and Jason Mielke and their families; and countless friends who will miss his warmth and wit.

Services will be privately held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
