Casey Marie Johnson

ALMO, KY --- Casey Marie Johnson, 27, of Almo, KY, died February 19, 2024 at the University of Louisville Health Jewish Hospital from complications of breast cancer, with her family at her side.

Born December 31, 1996 in Fort Worth, TX, she was the daughter of Eric Johnson, Salamanca, NY and Angela (Randall) Mitchell, Almo, KY. In 2022 Casey married her love, Ashley Darnell, who survives.

Casey grew up in a military family, traveled to Italy to visit her dad, and moved to various states with her mom until settling in Murray, KY in her early teens. She always enjoyed her summer visits to New York with her dad and family, and especially her grandma. Upon graduating high school, Casey enrolled in Murray State University, with a highlight of traveling to Japan as a course requirement and graduating in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design Art. After college, Casey worked for the university in the Public Safety Department, but continued her passion and designed many works of art.

Casey was a kind person who loved her family, friends and her cats. She enjoyed going to museums, art galleries, and parks. She also enjoyed Disney movies, video games, and loved visiting Disney World. She fought a hard fight against the cancer and was so strong and brave, always staying positive. She is gone way too soon and will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving besides her parents are three stepsisters, Brandi (Matt) Whitehurst, Brooke (Oscar) Travino, Blair Mitchell all of Corpus Christi, TX; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Terence and Gloria Johnson and maternal grandfather Richard Behling.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.
