FRANKLINVILLE - Don "Mit" Farrington, of 16 Foutth Ave., went on to his forever heavenly home Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Machias.
Don was born Oct. 12, 1932, in Franklinville, and was the son of Forrest Favil and Hazel Constantine Farrington. He was formerly married to Mabel Decker Kujawa. On March 24, 1967, he married Barbara Galbraith, who predeceased him Feb. 14, 2018.
Don was a 1950 graduate of Franklinville High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from Feb. 27, 1951 to Feb. 21, 1955.
Don worked at Motorola in Arcade for over 30 years until his retirement.
Don was currently a member of the Franklinville First Baptist Church and had also attended the Franklinville Free Methodist and Christian Missionary Alliance, where he held many positions and duties.
He loved music and was a self-taught musician playing many instruments including the guitar and harmonica. Don enjoyed playing and singing at many venues and with many other musicians.
He and his wife shared their love of turkey hunting with their family and were often in search of the Bearded Gobbler.
Don was a cartoonist and shared his characters with family and friends whenever he sent cards or notes. He also loved to be involved in local goings-on, often documenting things daily through words and photographs.
Don enjoyed reading and gardening and had a great love for many dogs/pets during his lifetime. No matter where he went or who he talked to, his love for Jesus was often shared.
Don is survived by five children, Debra (Darrin) Travis-Pound of Hinsdale, Lonnie (Kay) Farrington of Franklinville, Scott (Mary) Farrington of Delevan, Lynette (Dennis) Bartosz of Woodstock, Ga. and Patrick (Dorothy) Farrington of Olean; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his loving wife, Barbara, Don was predeceased by his parents; a granddaughter, Sara Noel Farrington; and three siblings, Ronald Farrington, Eleanor Gorecki and Marian Shuman.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday (July 22, 2025) at the Franklinville First Baptist Church, 27 S Main St., at which time a memorial service will be held.
