Frederick L. Mitchell, beloved husband, father, grandfather

RICHBURG - Frederick L. Mitchell, 76, of 398 Evans Ave., Richburg, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Bradford (Pa.) Manor after a lengthy illness.

Born on Jan. 12, 1949, in Wellsville, he was a son of Robert and Etta (Love) Mitchell.  On July 3, 1971, at the Portville Presbyterian Church, he married the former Shirley M. Griswold who survives.  They would have been married 54 years Thursday.

Fred was a graduate of Richburg Central School, Class of 1967. In 1969 he graduated from Alfred State College, Wellsville Campus, with his Associate Degree in Building Trades.

While his heart was in farming, he also worked for a short period of time at ACME Electric and later for John Slack in Whitesville for 14 years. He was last employed by Friendship Dairies, retiring after 25 years.

He loved carpentry work, dairy farming and spending time with his family and especially the times he spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by two daughters; Bobbi Jo (Johann) Rockefeller of Grand Isle, Maine and Billi Jo (Shanon) Stuck of Bolivar; his grandchildren Jamie, Ian, Ethan, and Taylor Rockefeller, Meghan (Chad) Julian, and Amber (Stephen) Wetherell; three brothers, Rocky (Sylvia) Mitchell of Florida, Elmer Mitchell of Angelica and Robert (Deb) Mitchell of Bolivar; a brother-in-law, Richard Culbert of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Susan Culbert.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 554 S. Main St., Bolivar, on Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 2-3 P.M. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy Elliott will officiate.

Burial will be in Richburg Cemetery.
