Orvilla Grace Palmer Rogers, loving wife, mother, grandmother and beloved kindergarten teacher
DELEVAN - Orvilla G. Rogers, 94, of Beyer Road, passed away peacefully Tuesday (June 17, 2025) at the Stonhenge Senior Living Facility in Blairsville, Ga.
Orville, or "Dolly" as she was known to her family and friends, was born May 15, 1931, in Holland, to Bennett and Mildred Horton Palmer.
Orvilla graduated from Buffalo State College with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education.
She would begin her kindergarten teaching career at Holland Elementary, then at Delevan Elementary and finally at Arcade Elementary until she retired.
On Aug. 28, 1954, Orvilla married Richard Lee Rogers. They would buy their forever home on Beyer Road in 1960 and there they would raise their six children. Together Dolly and Dick would transform an old summer house property to a wonderful home with woods to explore, a huge garden for vegetables and berries, apple trees, beautiful flower gardens and various animals throughout the years.
Orvilla loved family and big family dinners and picnics surrounded by children and grandchildren. She was beloved by her kindergarten students and their families.
She was active in the Yorkshire Free Methodist Church and for many years provided flowers to decorate the altar on Sunday mornings.
Dolly also loved traveling, quilting, watercolor painting and classical music.
Orvilla is survived by her six children, Elizabeth (Richard) Harrison, Richard L. (Kerry) Rogers, Suzanne (Rick) Klopp, Michael (Theresa) Rogers, Mark (Karen) Rogers,and Sara (David) Stratford. She is also loved by her 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Orvilla was predeceased by her husband, Richard; her siblings; and parents.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday (June 25, 2025) at the Yorkshire Free Methodist Church, immediately followed by a celebration of life in the sanctuary. Pastor Mark Weber and Rev. James Yansick will co-officiate. A light lunch will be provided after the ceremony. Burial will be in Delevan Cemetery.
