Ann Powell Obituary

Ann Powell Sept. 17, 1950 - April 6, 2025

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Ann Marie (Loerke) Powell of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, who died April 6, 2025, surrounded by family. She will be missed always.

Ann was the first child born to Raymond and Arlene Loerke in Appleton. She grew up next door to grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Ann graduated from Xavier High School in 1969 and from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1973 with a degree in music, where she was a member of Alpha XI Delta sorority. Ann began working as a music teacher and accountant. While pursuing her MBA, she received an appointment to the university's computer services department. She became a system programmer and then network manager. Ann set up the original network architecture and wrote usage policies. During her 32 years at UWO, she worked with friends from many departments. Ann's hobbies included playing flute, knitting, reading, participating in book clubs, taking road trips, swimming, boating, and water skiing at the cottage, and spending time with friends and family.

Ann is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom; her children, Celia Powell (Andy Novak) of Appleton, Alison (Tony) Presnow of Oshkosh; and her grandchildren, Roland, Matilda, Bridget, Hannah. She is also survived by her sisters, Lynn (Mark) Williamson of Madison, Beth Loerke of Appleton; her brother, John Loerke (Jane Sutliff) of Broomfield, Colorado; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Shirley (James) Hanna and Sylvia (Daniel) Fournier of Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father- and mother-in-law, Leslie and Caroline Powell; brother-in-law, Dan Fournier; and with special remembrance to the family of Ann's kidney donor. Ann and her family were deeply grateful for that gift; words cannot say enough.

A remembrance for Ann will be held at Nekimi Town Hall, 3790 Pickett Road, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Sept. 20, from noon to 3 p.m.
