Linda Lacey Obituary

GILBERTSVILLE - Linda Powers Lacey, 87, of Gilbertsville, passed away at Marshall County Hospital on Jan. 8, 2025. Linda was born to the late George and Gladys Powers on Feb. 13, 1937, in Paducah. Linda lived a full life that was defined by three great loves. First, was her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Second, was her love for her family. Lastly, was her love of food. These loves were the driving force in her life, allowing Linda to impact so many people.

Linda was a member of East Marshall Baptist Church, serving the Lord, the church, and her community in many capacities. Most notably she played the piano for over 20 years and was involved in the music ministry.

Linda's second love was her family. She was the matriarch of a vast family that made her known to many in the western Kentucky community. She is survived by her children, Gary McDowell of Paducah, Laura McDowell of Gilbertsville, Cindy Bailey of Possum Trot, and Britten McDowell (Michele) of Radcliff. Linda had tremendous love and pride in her grandchildren, Nathan McDowell (Jewel) of Paducah, Kristen Beck (Ryan) of Paducah, Nicholas McDowell (Megan) of Paducah, Lacey Baker (Thomas) of Possum Trot, and Maegan Mansfield (Levi) of Paducah. Linda had 16 great-grandchildren and two twin great-great grandchildren expected in 2025. She is also survived by her brother, Delbert Powers (Nancy) of Reidland; her sister, Patty Maynard of Hoover, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins from all over the US.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, W. E. "Bill" Lacey, her infant sister, Etta Sue Powers, one brother, Elbert Powers, and her parents.

Linda was best known for her third love…her food and serving it to those around her! Linda, along with her husband, Bill, began Lacey's Family Restaurant in Benton, Kentucky. On any given day, whether you were her family, one of her friends, or someone wanting some life advice, you could find Linda in the kitchen preparing and serving up just what the people around her needed. Lacey's Family Restaurant was the way that Bill and Linda served their community. Whether it be meals, jobs, or some sound life advice, those who knew Linda best knew she would give them exactly what they needed in her kitchen. Linda successfully operated the Lacey's Family Restaurant from its opening in 1984 to her retirement and the restaurant's closing in 2012. "To make a long story short," famous words by Bill, Linda Lacey lived her life to the fullest, focusing on serving the Lord and doing what she could to meet the needs of those around her on a daily basis.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann. A private entombment will be held at a later time.
