Aaron Cook
January 26, 1976 - July 12, 2025
With a joyous spirit and a heart full of memories, we celebrate the life of Aaron Cook, who was born on January 26, 1976, and lived an extraordinary life until July 12, 2025.
Aaron was a 1997 graduate of Greenwich Central School. He was a charismatic soul, known for making everyone around him smile with his infectious laughter and clever pranks. He was a talented jokester who particularly enjoyed playing pranks on his father, sometimes slipping a whoopee cushion onto his chair when he least expected it.
Aaron's loving nature shone through in the compassion he had for others. He was a devoted volunteer with Battenkill Community Services, where he helped deliver Meals on Wheels, helped at the local preschool, and worked at the food bank. His favorite way of giving back to the community, was visiting nursing homes, where he and his friends would dress as clowns to entertain the residents. He also found great joy and showed his patriotism by walking in many parades over the years. Making others happy was his gift.
Despite being born with Down's Syndrome, Aaron never let it define him. Instead, he embraced it and strived to live a life full of joy, laughter, and love.
Aaron's interests were as varied and unique as his personality. He had a passion for traveling with his friends, participating in the Special Olympics, and going on camping and fishing trips. He was a dedicated fan of WWE wrestling, particularly of the great Hulk Hogan. His love for cheeseburgers and strawberry ice cream was unparalleled, and he could often be found enjoying these treats with a wide, contented smile on his face, especially at the fair. He spent many years showing his prized jersey, Leona, with his friends and 4-H club at the county fair. Aaron was also involved in the Adirondack Production Theatre, where he performed skits, sang, and danced. He could often be found impersonating his all-time favorites, Elvis and Kenny Rogers.
As Robert Louis Stevenson once said, "Find out where joy resides, and give it a voice far beyond singing. For to miss the joy is to miss all."
Aaron certainly found where joy resided and gave it a voice that reached far beyond singing. He truly lived his life to the fullest, spreading love and happiness wherever he went.
Aaron is survived by his loving mother and father, Cheryl (Babcock) and Keith Cook; his sister's, Melissa (Jack Perreault) Cook and Melodie Cook; niece, Ella Perreault; nephew, Chance Perreault; uncles, Craig (Barb) Cook and Kimball Cook; aunt Pat Babcock; and many cousins and lifelong friends.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Merrill and Ruth (Klein) Cook, and Frank and Belva (Brookman) Babcock, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His family, staff, and friends of Battenkill Community Services will greatly miss his radiant presence.
Aaron's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and a positive attitude. His legacy will continue to inspire everyone he touched.
