Alfred Waite Obituary

Alfred "Alfie" Earl Waite

September 28, 1947 - July 10, 2025

GREENWICH - Alfred "Alfie" Earl Waite, 77, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Greenwich. Born September 28, 1947, in Cambridge, N.Y., Alfred lived a life defined by courage, humility, and humor.

He was a dedicated husband to Dale (Jordan) Waite, who he married in 1968. He was a loving father to his children, Tammie and Scott; grandfather to, Amanda Rouse, Kerri Donaldson, and Gabe Waite; great-grandfather to, Kole, Octavia, Emma, Kaiden, and Kaileb; brother to Randy Waite and his wife Kathleen, his sister Deborah Ives and her husband Bill, and his sisters-in-law Cynthia Waite, Elocia Jarchow and Wendy (John) Morris; and his best buddy's Max Petar and Marshall Truax; special friend and neighbor, Dottie Morey as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, also survive him.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ruth Waite, his brother Edward Waite; his nephew's Brady Waite and Jonathon Morris; brother-in-law, Daniel Jordan and special friend, Andrea Petar.

Alfred was a man of many talents and interests. He worked for 30 years and retired as a Maintenance Mechanic for Hollingsworth and Vose Papermill in Clarks Mills, N.Y. His dedication to his job was only surpassed by his bravery and commitment to his country.

Alfred served his country as a radio operator, in the United States Marine Corps, receiving a Purple Heart for his time in Vietnam. Despite this recognition, Alfred remained humble, his greatest reward being the safe return of his troops.

In his free time, Alfred was an avid hunter and fisherman, collector of rifles, and loved the ocean in Maine, he always said that he found God in the woods and the ocean. During a hunting trip to Montana, he was fortunate to harvest a record Mule Deer, which is proudly mounted in his living room.

He was an exceptional line and ballroom dancer. He had a lighthearted side, always ready with a joke, and his kindhearted, gentle demeanor was infectious to all who knew him.

Alfred was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends, he and his wife were always hosting family holiday dinners and attending family reunion camping trips to the lake were a joy.

Alfred was a true American Patriot, the American Flag flew proudly on his property and 4th of July at his home was a yearly celebration, always accompanied by the shooting of his prized cannon painted red, white and blue with a marine sticker, that his father gifted him.

A verse from the book of Psalms speaks to Alfred's life: "The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul." (Psalm 23: 1-3).

Alfred walked through life with a shepherd's heart, leading by example and offering comfort and support to those around him. His courage, humility, and sense of humor will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories of those who knew and loved him.

Al will be remembered as a true patriot, father, husband and someone who everyone looked up to! I've been honored to know him and his family throughout the past 30 years, especially enjoying many 4th of July celebrations firing off the proud family cannon :) His memory and indelible smile will live on indeed... Blue skies my friend!
