Elizabeth Dalaba Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Dalaba

January 29, 1934 - January 10, 2025

Elizabeth Ann Dalaba (Lashway) passed away on January 10, 2025, holding her husband's hand at the Washington Center Nursing Home in Argyle, N.Y.

She was born on January 29, 1934, in Glens Falls, N.Y. Born to the late Kenneth and Genevieve (Gereau) Lashway.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Eyth and Jeanne Romanelli; and her brothers, Kenneth Lashway and Richard (Dick) Lashway; and her son-in-law, Joseph Polunci.

Liz is survived by her husband, Robert E. Dalaba, whom she married on March 21, 1958. She is also survived by her brothers, Karl Lashway of Queensbury and James (Coleen) Lashway of Queensbury; and sisters, Rosemary Lashway of Glens Falls, and Nancy (Alonzo) Clark, of South Glens Falls; and her sister-in-law, Marie Lashway of South Glens Falls. Her four children: Linda Polunci of Queensbury, Michael (Sarah) Dalaba of Glens Falls, Carrie (James) Duell of Corinth and Scott (Angela) Dalaba of Florida. Her six grandchildren: Stacey (Gregory) Gillingham, Chasity (Clarence) Beames, Jerry Dalaba, Casey Klem, Derek Hazelton (Rachel Mitchell) and Ashley (Malcolm) McShinsky; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, all of whom she loved very much. As well as several step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews all who will never forget her.

Liz was a homemaker first and foremost. She had a passion for gardening, especially her tomatoes. She loved cardinals and collecting bird houses. She also kept busy by babysitting children in her home for many years. All the kids called her 'D' since Mrs. Dalaba was too hard for the toddlers to say. She took pride in watching them grow even after they were too old to need a babysitter.

Liz was a member of the Glens Falls Women's Bowling Association as both a bowler and the treasurer for many years. When her granddaughter joined the Greater Glens Falls Flyers swim club, she eased into the role of treasurer there as well and stayed on long after her granddaughter stopped swimming. She was always a staple figure at the pool, never missing a swim practice or swim meet.

Like lived across the road from us. She always came to our family Christmas celebration the week before Christmas. There were many grandchildren there and sometimes she would dress up and entertain the little ones. Always a smile on her face. Rest well Liz, you will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known you.
