Howard Andrew
February 7, 1935 - July 30, 2025
EAGLE BRIDGE - Howard Andrew, 90, of Eagle Bridge, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 7, 1935, at Mary McClellan Hospital, Howard was a fourth-generation dairy farmer whose life was rooted in faith, family, and a respect for God's creation. He believed that farm land was a gift from God to be nurtured, protected, and passed on to the next generation. His farming days began with a bucket milker, a team of horses, a Farmall, and just a few cows. Howard lived each day to improve and better his farm, watching Andland Farms grow to what it is today.
Howard married Margaret "Peggy" (Dering) on January 20, 1960, and together they built a farm family and raised them to walk with God. They lived by Colossians 3:23, "and whatsoever ye do do it heartily as to the Lord," whether that was fixing a broken fence, picking rocks, or bailing hay. His favorite things on the farm were mowing a field of hay and sitting down to supper with his family around the table.
Beyond his farm and family Howard gave to his community by serving on numerous Agricultural committees for over 30 years. He was a member of the Farm Service Agency, Farm Bureau, Tri-County Holstein Club, and for 50 years a member of the New York State Holstein Association. He was also an active member of the Center White Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
He leaves behind a thriving family and a well-loved farm. Predeceased by his parents, George Andrew and Carolyn (Gould) Andrew; sister, Doris (Andrew) Trout; and great-granddaughter, Sadie Grace. Survived by his six children, Howard (Terry) Andrew, Amy (Peter) Braun, George (Colleen) Andrew, Lory (Tim) Tudor, Audrey (Dean) Brownell, and Edith (Robert) Phillips. His sisters, Mary (John) McMahon, Carol (Randy) Batchelder, and Roxy Andrew. He was known as Big Gramps to 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was seeing his family grow in faith and love.
A family burial will take place at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held at Center White Creek Baptist Church, 28 Center White Creek Lane, Eagle Bridge, N.Y. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Center White Creek Baptist Church building fund, 28 Center White Creek Lane, Eagle Bridge, NY 12057 or the Washington County Fair Show Barn Fund, 392 Old Schuylerville Rd., Greenwich, NY 12834.
